Little critters love tomatoes! There are a few things you could try organically; I carry a line of Folier Feed with Garlic that is an effective deterrent for small mammals and does not affect the taste of your tomatoes; you could put some chili pepper around the outside of the barrel to deter small animals such as rabbits. If you have a wire barrell around the tomatoes to keep them up while growing, get some chicken wire and put it around and over the top of the plant. Not attractive, I know, but effective. The mosts effective deterrent can be identified if you are able to tell what is eating your tomatoes. Good luck Nancy!

Makes me hungry for a BLT sandwich. We have one tomato plant growing a half-wine barrel planter. We've had trouble keeping "freeloaders" out. We're not sure if it is mammal or fowl, but some critter is eating all our harvest. Any suggestions?

Wow...that is beautiful! I've always wanted to plant a garden someday.
